The Blue Fish Tick (Primary)
The future of our oceans and the seafood we consume is in danger. Overfishing is a major threat to marine ecosystems, which has negative impacts on the health of our oceans and the livelihoods of fishing communities. This is where the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) comes in. With a mission to end overfishing, the MSC has developed a comprehensive standard for sustainable fishing. This 40-60 minute lesson for primary school students aged 10+ is designed to introduce learners to the importance of sustainable fishing and the role of the MSC in promoting it.
Through this engaging lesson plan, students will learn about the impacts of overfishing on marine ecosystems and the importance of sustainable fishing practices. They will be introduced to the MSC Standard and how it measures and supports sustainable fishing activities. By the end of the lesson, students will have a deeper understanding of the role they play in promoting sustainable fishing and the impact it has on the health of our oceans and the food we eat.
This teacher resource is an excellent way to get students thinking about the environment and their role in protecting it. The lesson plan is flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs of different schools and classrooms. Whether you’re a science teacher, environmental educator, or just looking to incorporate sustainability into your curriculum, this lesson plan is a great resource to use with your students.
