Reef guardians – ecosystems

In this mini unit, students investigate starch production in leaves and understand how plants use the sunlight energy to produce food. Students explore energy flow in food webs within ecosystems. Students identify the biotic and abiotic components of ecosystems and understand how these interact and relate to energy flow. Students investigate how changing abiotic factors impact ecosystems and understand how natural and human events also impact ecosystems. The unit includes learning sequences, lessons, activities and links to resources.
